Acts 20:28 says, “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”
Elders. With great honor, often comes great responsibility. To be appointed shepherds of God’s flock entails a tall task that must be completed with great esteem. It is the elder’s duties to take care of the flock. It is the elder’s duty to feed the flock spiritually. It is the elders duty to be the very definition of a Godly man and a Godly example. If you are a young man within the Church, what should be one of your primary goals? I believe it should be to serve the Church as an elder one day. The qualifications we find for elders over in Titus Ch. 1 are admirable qualities that every young man within the Church should follow. And, they are qualifications that, one day, could lead to a great honor being bestowed upon you: Becoming a shepherd of God’s flock. Today, strive to follow those qualifications and set a goal to, one day, become an elder.
