60 Seconds with God – Romans Week

Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

There are two things I can learn from this verse. First, sin is like a virus. Once it inhabits one person, it spreads to the others like wildfire. We can spread it by mouth or by touch. Look at Adam and Eve. Sin started with them in the garden and spread like an unruly disease throughout generations. Secondly, I can learn from this verse the consequence of sin: Death. Remember what Romans 6:23 says? “ For the wages of sin is death…” Guess what? There is no life in sin. Sure, we can find earthly life in sin, maybe even earthly gain, but we cannot find eternal life in sin. Isn’t that a more important goal? If you are looking for eternal life in sin, then brethren, you are looking in the wrong place. Today, look for eternal life through God and faithfulness, not sin.
