If you were to take a college course, the first question that the professor would ask you is: Do you have the textbook? With the textbook, you can unlock the key to passing the course. You can study the material, learn the material, and apply the material to your pool of knowledge. But, if you don’t have the textbook, or read the textbook, you will not know the material and be able to apply that material to your life.
The same applies to our Christian life. We, as Christians, have a textbook: The Bible. It is the greatest book to ever be written. Everything you will need to know, for present or future use, lies within the pages of God’s inspired word (2 Tim. 3:16). Oh, and it comes with a free gift. But there’s a catch: In order to unlock the free gift, you must read, study, obey, live, and be faithful to the words of the Bible. Then, at the end of your life, you will be given the free gift. What’s the gift? The Crown of Life (Jam. 1:23, Rev. 2:10). Sounds like a bargain to me. So, the question is, do you have the textbook? And, if so, are you using the textbook to unlock the greatest gift in the history of mankind?
